Github user banned for posting doctored photos of Muslim women, case registered

GitHub user behind the 'Bulli Bai' platform has been blocked for posting doctored photos of Muslim women. 

IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav tweeted that Github has confirmed blocking the user and police authorities and Computer Emergency Response Team are coordinating further action. 

Meanwhile, Delhi Police has filed an FIR against unknown persons after a journalist lodged a complaint and shared the copy of the complaint on Twitter.

According to the complaint, the woman, who works with an online news portal, sought immediate registration of an FIR and investigation against an unknown set of people who are "seeking to harass and insult Muslim women" on social media.

'Bulli Bai' platform was modelled after the 'Sulli deals' portal had surfaced in July last year. Both the portals targeted Muslim women and posted their photos online.
