In a dramatic murder from Uttar Pradesh’s Greater Noida, a woman has been detained for faking her own death by allegedly killing another woman who had similar physical attributes as hers.
Accused Payal Bhati befriended the victim, who worked at a mall and killed her with the help of partner Ajay Thakur.
Police said the 22-year-old accused burnt deceased's face, allegedly dressed the corpse in her own clothes and planted a purported letter to make the murder appear as suicide.
It further said that both Payal and Ajay eloped after the murder.
The incident came to light after deceased’s family lodged a missing complaint on November 12 claiming that their daughter had gone missing on the said date from near Gaur city mall.

Initial probe suggests that Payal staged her own death to frame her relatives in a murder case so that she could take revenge for her father’s suicide who died after relatives apparently refused to repay his money.
However, Payal’s grandfather, as per India Today, said she wanted to elope with her partner because she feared that the family would not approve of their relationship.
