Gurgaon to issue work-from-home advisory as rains overwhelm civic infrastructure

Gurgaon officials have decided to issue an advisory to corporate offices encouraging them to consider work-from-home option for its employees on days with heavty rain this monsoon season. 

The decision comes after the city witnesses waterlogging in several places as the Delhi-NCR received first monsoon showers.

Deputy commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav told reporters that they have identified 112 places locations in the city where there was waterlogging and 16 seniors officials have been assigned the task of preventing any such further incidents. 

The monsoon rolled into Delhi on Thursday, yielding the season's first spell of heavy rain which covered the precipitation deficit and brought the maximum temperature down to 29.4 degrees Celsius, the lowest in around four months.

Most parts of the city reported moderate to heavy rainfall. The Safdarjung observatory, Delhi's base station, recorded 116.6 mm downpour between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm.
