After joining the Haryana government cabinet, Aseem Goel offered prayers at the Ambika Mata Temple in Ambala on Wednesday. Goel, who has been a two-time MLA from Ambala city, has now been appointed as a Minister of State (Independent Charge) in the government.
The Nayab Singh Saini government carried out its first expansion on March 19 and inducted a total of 8 new faces in the cabinet. Out of the eight, one MLA took oath as a minister, while others were administered the oath as minister of state (independent charge).
Aseem contested the electoral field for the first time in the 2014 state assembly elections on a BJP ticket from Ambala city. Riding the Modi wave, he defeated Vinod Sharma, the candidate of the Haryana Jan Chetna Party, by more than 23,000 votes.
In 2019, BJP again put its trust in him and gave him the ticket. He emerged victorious in the 2019 assembly elections as well. He left the Congress and contested as a candidate from his party, defeating Congress candidate Nirmal Singh.
