At least six people have died in a massive fire that has charred a godown in Telangana’s Hyderabad. News agency ANI reported that three people have also been injured.
Videos of the incident show fire rescuers pulling out trapped women and children out of a small window. Multiple water cannons were being used to extinguish the fire in the four-storey building.
Hyderabad police officials suspect that repair work of a car inside the godown may be behind the fire. “The repair work of a car was going on in the godown on the ground floor. The sparks spread to the chemical barrel kept in the godown and caused the fire,” ANI reported.
“Within no time, the fire engulfed other floors of the building and caused six deaths,” police said.
The deadly fire has now been brought under control after multiple fire tenders were deployed to the spot.
