After the shocking judgement of the death penalty delivered by a Qatari court to eight former Indian Navy officers employed with a company in Qatar earlier this week, the Indian embassy in Doha is reportedly reaching out to top legal experts in Qatar to appeal the sentence.

According to The Indian Express on 28 October 2023, while an appeal in the higher court is being prepared with legal help, a mercy petition to the Emir of Qatar is also being pursued.

Delhi is also reaching out to Doha diplomatically since the two foreign ministries have a strong and robust relationship, the report said.
