With war intensifying in Ukraine, the Indian government said that 18,000 nationals have exited Ukraine's borders since the first advisory was issued.

While 15 flights carrying over 3,000 Indians arrived in the country in the last 24 hours, 18 flights are scheduled in the next 24 hours, Arindam Bagchi, spokesperson, Ministry of External Affairs said. In a press briefing, Bagchi said that the Indian Air Force and private carriers like Air India, SpiceJet, Go First, and IndiGo are part of the evacuation effort labelled Operation Ganga.

He said that flights in the next 24 hours are slated from Hungary, Poland, and Slovak Republic. Bagchi added that a new evacuation location has been set up in Romania to cut travel time of Indians coming out of Ukraine and taking a flight.

The MEA official said that increasing number of evacuation flights shows that a large number of people have come out of Ukraine.
