Supriya Sule called for Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh's resignation as she raised several questions during the debate on a no-confidence motion against the BJP government.
"What happened in Manipur is shameful. I demand the chief minister should resign immediately. Can you allow this to happen and shame the women of this country? Ask your conscience how you can support this government. How can you allow this?" she said.
Referring to a PIL filed in an NIA court, Sule alleged that it was claimed that United Kuki Liberation Front helped some BJP candidates win in the 2017 assembly polls.
The no-confidence motion debate against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government is underway in the Lok Sabha. In the backdrop of the crucial parliamentary deliberation is the ethnic violence in Manipur.
The motion was introduced by the Congress to elicit a response from Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Parliament on the situation in Lok Sabha.
The Modi government is now in its second term, with opposition parties forming the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) to prevent the ruling BJP-led NDA from coming to power for a third term under him.
