Bull-taming sport Jallikattu began in Tamil Nadu's Madurai on January 15.
Before the start of the event in Avaniyapuram of Madurai, the health of the bulls were checked. Security forces were also deployed at the venue.
Earlier this month, a youth tamed 12 bulls in the first Jallikattu event in the state at Thachankurichi village of Pudukottai district. He was awarded a motorbike in recognition of his valour.
Several participants and bull owners were injured during the event.
State Law Minister S Reghupathi flagged had off the event in the presence of Environment Minister Siva V Meiyyanathan and officials.
