Principal District Judge in Jharkhand's Dumka Anil Kumar Mishra met the Spanish woman who was allegedly gang-raped who was on a bike tour with her husband.
After the meeting, the judge in a report said that the victim was emotionally shattered but was in stable physical condition.
According to an Indian Express report, the judge ensured that the woman has security, assisted in recording her statement under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, and ordered a compensation of ₹10 lakh be paid to her.
The woman was allegedly raped by seven men on Friday night after she and her partner stopped in Dumka for the night.
Meanwhile, the Jharkhand High Court on Monday took suo motu cognisance of the Spanish woman's gang rape in Dumka district and asked the state government to file a report on the matter.
A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar and Justice Navneet Kumar issued notices to the DGP, chief secretary and the SP of Dumka in this regard.
The court will hear the case again on March 7.
