The Special Investigation Team probing the Lakhimpur farmers' killings on Monday filed a 5,000-page chargesheet in a UP court.

The chargesheet has named Union Minister Ajay Mishra's son Ashish Mishra as the main accused. Ashish Mishra is already under arrest in the case.

The SIT had recently requested a local court to add attempt to murder charge against Ashish Mishra and the 12 others accused.

Last month, the SIT had told the designated local court that the killing of the farmers and the journalist was a "planned conspiracy" with intent to commit murder and not a case of death by negligence.

Four protesting farmers and a journalist were run over, allegedly by an SUV driven by Ashish Mishra in Lakhimpur Kheri on October 3. In the subsequent violence that broke out, three more, including two BJP workers, were killed.

Videos from the scene showed an SUV running over farmers at full speed.

The BJP has been under attack over continuation of Ajay Mishra Teni as a Union Minister after the farmers' killings.
