Delhi government will soon introduce special counters for women at its L-10 category alcohol shops. The dedicated counters will be brought up in malls and airports.
The move aims to make liquor buying experience comfortable for women who at present face difficulties due to heavy rush and small space.
Once these stores are opened in malls and airports, it will be easier for women to buy liquor. Officials say that these special counters will also provide a 'good walk-in experience' to the women.
Following the liquor policy scam, all private vends which are generally spacious, were shut in the national capital. Only government shops have been operational which are too crowded for women to buy liquor.
A total of six L-10 vends have been reportedly opened in Delhi, all in malls. However, such vends are yet to be opened at the airports under the old excise regime.
