A 26-year-old medical student in Telangana's Kakatiya Medical College died four days after she attempted suicide over ragging by senior on Sunday night, NDTV reported.
According to cops, D Preethi attempted suicide on wednesday after allegedly being harassed by a senior. She was found unconscious at MGM Hospital after working the night shift. She was later moved to Hyderabad in a critical condition, the report added.
The WhatsApp chats on the victim's and the accused's phones suggested ragging, Warangal police commissioner AV Ranganath told NDTV.
Following a complaint by Preethi's father, the cops arrested a second-year-post graduate student Mohammed Ali Saif, on charges of ragging, abetment to suicide and harassment under the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
