A day before Diwali, a bus carrying migrant workers home for the festival overturned in Madhya Pradesh's Guna district. In the second such accident in MP in 3 days, at least 30 passengers were injured - four of them seriously.

Some passengers reportedly alleged that the bus driver was drunk and speeding. The bus was headed from Surat in Gujarat to Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh. The vehicle overturned on Guna bypass road around noon on 23 October 2022.

An official claimed that the bus was carrying 100 passengers, while its capacity was 52. Guna's Sub-Divisional Magistrate said that the bus driver would be medically tested to see if he was drunk.

Two days earlier, on 21 October, a bus headed to Uttar Pradesh and carrying migrant labourers home for Diwali had met with a deadly accident. The bus had rammed into a trailer truck in Rewa district, and at least 15 people died while around were injured.
