The installation of a statue of Sikh Guru Gobind Singh at a shopping mall in Patna, Bihar has turned into a major controversy.

The president of the Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee, or SGPC, on June 7, 2023, said that the installation of the statue is against Sikh principles as the religion does not allow idol worship.

Earlier, Shiromani Akali Dal leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal had said that the statue is an "outrageous violation of Sikh norm", and asked the government to take action.
