The Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud on October 23 said that he formed a minority view on certain aspects as three of his colleagues differed on opinion granting legal rights to queer couples in a recent hearing.

"Sometimes it is a vote of conscience and vote of the constitution and I stand by what I said", legal news portal Bar and Bench quoted the CJI as saying.

The CJI's remarks came while speaking at the Third Comparative Constitutional Law discussion co-hosted by the Society for Democratic Rights (SDR), New Delhi and Georgetown University Law Center, Washington DC.

It is worth noting that the top court last week refused to grant legal sanction to same-sex marriage
