The Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud on October 23 said that he formed a minority view on certain aspects as three of his colleagues differed on opinion granting legal rights to queer couples in a recent hearing.
"Sometimes it is a vote of conscience and vote of the constitution and I stand by what I said", legal news portal Bar and Bench quoted the CJI as saying.
The CJI's remarks came while speaking at the Third Comparative Constitutional Law discussion co-hosted by the Society for Democratic Rights (SDR), New Delhi and Georgetown University Law Center, Washington DC.
