Church of South India bishop Dharamraj Rasalam was detained at Thiruvanathapuram international airport a day after Enforcement Directorate raided multiple institutions linked to the church in connection with an alleged money laundering case.

The bishop was detained by immigration officials at the airport on Tuesday when he was leaving for UK for a church event and asked to appear for questioning in the matter.

ED on Monday also quizzed Rasalam and Director of Somervell Memorial CSI Medical College in connection with alleged financial irregularities over collection of capitation fee for admission to the medical college. The allegations were levelled by 24 students who claimed that college management defrauded them in the garb of medical seats.

Initial probe in the case by Crime Branch exonerated the college management but its findings were dismised by Kerala High Court in February which ordered a re-investigation in the case.
