In a fresh instance of wildlife running out of space to live, a tiger stumbled onto rail tracks and was run over by a locomotive. The incident occurred in Maharashtra's Chandrapur on the Hyderabad-Ballarshah route.

The tiger's carcass was spotted in the early hours of 21 October 2022 by a Railway gangman. The forest department sent a team for inspection which said that the tiger was a sub-adult.

The wild cat had suffered multiple injuries, according to a post-mortem examination by veterinarians from the transit treatment centre in Chandrapur.

The tiger was later cremated as per guidelines in the presence of forest personnel.
