Massive landslide blocks road in Uttarakhand, 300 people stranded

At least 300 people are stuck in the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand after a road crumbled following a landslide.

100 metres of a crucial road was washed away into the river below after a large part of a hill collapsed. 

According to reports, it will take two days for the road to be opened for traffic. 

The weather office has issued an alert for a dust storm and thundershower for Almora, Bageshwar, Chamoli, Champawat, Dehradun, Garhwal, Hardwar, Nainital, Pithoragarh, Rudraprayag, Tehri Garhwal, Udham Singh Nagar and Uttarkashi districts of Uttarakhand

All pilgrims have been asked to stay in safe places and not travel unnecessarily by the police.
