Minor allegedly gang-raped, thrashed for days by cousins in MP’s Jabalpur dies

In a horrific case, a 16-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped and thrashed for days by her two cousin brothers in Ranjhi area of Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur. The accused even raped the victim’s grandmother who came to her rescue, medical reports confirmed. 

The minor who lived with her father in Mumbai was visiting her uncle when her cousins allegedly started assaulting her. On August, 13 they allegedly raped and brutally thrashed her. The horrendous act continued for the next several days. She was then admitted to a private hospital on August 19 where she died the next day. She was buried in Jabalpur. 

The case only came to light on Aug 23 when the victim's father was informed about the ordeal by her grandmother. According to ASP Pradeep Kumar, the accused assaulted the elderly woman when she tried to intervene. 

It was then decided to exhume the victim's body to conduct a medical test. 

A rape case under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code and POCSO has been registered. The police have nabbed one accused while other is absconding .
