One mango was auctioned for Rs 10,600 in West Bengal's Birbhum district. Why, you wonder? It was a Miyazaki mango, a rare species that is native to Japan. Now, 8 such mangoes have grown in Birbhum after a local man brought back some saplings from his trip to Japan a couple of years ago, according to reports. Out of the 8 mangoes, one was auctioned off on June 2.

In the international market, the Miyazaki mango is sold for Rs 2.5 lakh per kilogram.
