Ahead of an illegal 'shobha yatra' in Haryana's Nuh district by Hindu groups, police detained the chief of the Vishwa Hindu Takht or VHT.

Viresh Shandilya was detained on August 28, just minutes before he was scheduled to leave for Nuh to participate in a 'jal abhishek yatra', as per a Hindustan Times report. Police said that Shandilya had been placed under house arrest.

Heavy security has been deployed in Nuh, along with snapping of mobile internet and bulk SMS services, a month after violent clashes in the area.
