The Narendra Modi government's ordinance on Delhi bureaucrats has caused a divide among some Opposition leaders.

After Aam Aadmi Party leader Raghav Chadha asked whether every state which votes against BJP would be stripped of its legislature in the future, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah commented on the Twitter post.

Abdullah on May 20, 2023 said that "what has been done to Delhi is a travesty & goes against the spirit of cooperative federalism".

The Kashmiri leader then pointed out that the Aam Aadmi Party did not realise the danger of its actions when it "happily sided with the BJP" when Jammu and Kashmir was downgraded from a state to a Union Territory in 2019.
