In a concerning incident, Bihar's Chief Minister was physically attacked at a public programme on March 27. Nitish Kumar was reportedly in his hometown Bakhtiyarpur when the incident occurred.

The JD(U) leader was paying homage to freedom fighter Shilbhadra Yaji at the latter's statue at the Safar hospital complex when the attack took place, as per reports.

In a viral video, a man was seen running up a short flight of stairs, and hitting Nitish Kumar on his back. He was immediately apprehended by Kumar's security. Later, he was seen being taken away by the security personnel. News reports said that the assailant was arrested and kept in police custody.

The incident raised serious questions about the security of the Chief Minister who is reportedly touring Barh currently, the constituency he represented in the Lok Sabha in the past.
