Confusion and panic prevailed in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri after an armed civilian part of the Village Defence Guard (VDG) mistook a fire for a terrorist attack.
A blaze consumed Vijay Singh's house in Draman village, and some family members started crying. Fearing a terrorist attack, the VDG member fired his gun in the air, expending 3 bullets.
Station House Officer Budhal, N R Thakur said that soon after the incident came to light, teams of forces rushed to the village where it has come to fore that the VDG member fired as he mistook cries of his neighbouring family who were actually raising alarm due to a fire in house.
