Truck hits car: at least 9 killed, including a child, in deadly accident on Goa-Mumbai highway

A deadly road accident claimed the lives of at least 9 people, including a child, on 19 January 2023.

A truck, which was allegedly speeding, collided with a van on the Mumbai-Goa highway in Maharashtra's Raigad district. The accident took place around 4:45 am.

The truck was going towards Mumbai. The victims, all relatives, were going to Guhagar in Ratnagiri. The deceased included a girl child, three women and five men.

After being alerted, police rushed to the spot and started the rescue operation. A four-year-old girl injured in the accident was taken to a hospital in Mangaon.

The bodies were sent to a government hospital for post-mortem, he said. The cause of the accident was yet to be ascertained, the police said.
