Leader of the Buddhist community, the Dalai Lama, appeared in public for the first time in two years on March 19. After having avoided public engagements amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the Dalai Lama said that he was in good health.
The Tibetan leader also reportedly joked that he can "play boxing with the doctor". He said this while saying that he was scheduled to visit a doctor in Delhi for a regular medical check-up, but had decided not to go.
The Dalai Lama addressed a gathering in Himachal Pradesh's Dharamshala, and gave a short teaching from the Jataka Tales, as per reports. Subsequently, a ceremony for generating the bodhichitta (semkye) was reportedly held at the main Tibetan temple Tsuglakhang.
Thousands of people, including Tibetans, monks, and members of the Tibetan government-in-exile, or the CTA (Central Tibetan Administration), attending the event.
