With heavy rains continuing to lash Rajasthan, Sri Ganganagar's district collector found his vehicle submerged on a waterlogged street under a bridge. Locals helped extricate the car from the inundated road.
The incident occurred on 16 July when rainfall in Sri Ganganagar broke a 44-year record, as per reports. The area received 224 mm rainfall in just 24 hours.
The Army had to be called in to help deal with waterlogging. Three units of the Indian Army aided the district administration in water drainage. By 16 July night, electricity had been restored in around 80% of the affected area.
Other cities in Rajasthan have also been receiving monsoon rainfall. Rain and thunderstorms are expected in Jaipur, Kota, Udaipur, Bharatpur and Ajmer for the next 3-4 days. Bikaner and Jodhpur might receive light to heavy rain in the next 48 hours.
