Two exotic birds were rescued by India's Border Security Force after its personnel apprehended alleged smugglers trying to enter India illegally from Bangladesh.

While the smugglers managed to flee in the darkness, BSF soldiers recovered two wooden boxes from them. Inside the containers, they found a couple of Dwarf Cassowary birds, officials said on 16 March 2023.

The birds were handed over to forest department officials in Krishnanagar.
