In a tremendously risky task, a building owner in Hyderabad's Chintal area deployed hydraulic jacks to raise his multi-storey structure as he wanted to increase it above road level, the Times of India reported.
Astonishingly, the task was being carried out with 16 people inside the G+2 building. As soon as the hydraulic jacks attempted to lift the building, it leaned, triggering panic among the residents. Fortunately, no one was hurt.
Following a complaint by the owner of the neighbouring building, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation's (GHMC) disaster relief force was rushed to the area, it said.
The building was immediately evacuated.
Meanwhile the owner of the building was booked for lifting old building under IPC section 336
(act endangering life or personal safety of others), the report added.
