Samajwadi Party is set to contest Lok Sabha elections with Congress. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav on January 27 said that his party has formed an alliance with Congress for 11 seats.
He said that the INDIA bloc and his PDA strategy will change the history. The acronym PDA coined by Yadav stands for backward classes, Dalits and minorities.
Yadav's announcement comes amid the ongoing political suspense in Bihar with speculations of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar joining NDA.
Earlier, Yadav had said that Congress has a "big responsibility" of taking along smaller parties.
When asked about West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee's decision to go solo in the Lok Sabha elections, the former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh had said, "Mamata Banerjee has said to fight (alone) so Congress should persuade her. It is the big responsibility of Congress to take along smaller parties."
