Missing girls from Bhopal illegal shelter home safe, three officers suspended

26 girls who were reportedly missing from a shelter home running illegally in Bhopal have been located and are safe, according to reports quoting police officers.

Three officials of state's Women and Child Department have been suspended and two were issued showcause notices after the matter came to light on January 6, 2024.

The girls hailed from different states, including Gujarat, Jharkhand, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

On Thursday, police had registered a First Information Report on the complaint of district programme officer Ramgopal Yadav against Anil Mathew for allegedly running the children's home illegally.
