The Opposition has called out the government for making a 'mockery of governance' after a Lok Sabha MP who was absent from the House was suspended along with 13 others for disrupting proceedings.

The government has now withdrawn the suspension of DMK's Sr Parthiban and after calling it a case of mistaken identity.

Parthiban was not present in the Lok Sabha on Thursday due to ill health.

His colleague and DMK MP tweeted on the development and said 'Parthiban of DMK not in the Loksabha during that time. But the parliamentary affairs minister read out his name in the list of suspended MPs. A total mockery of governance.'

Congress MP Karti Chidambaram said that 'there is comedy in suspension'.

'There is comedy in this suspension, S R Parthiben has been named in the list, he wasn’t even in the LS today. I guess they can’t make out one Tamilan from another,' he tweeted.
