The debate on the no-confidence motion in Lok Sabha began amid chaos after Gaurav Gogoi asked whether he should talk about the conversations held between Om Birla and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha Speaker's chamber.

The Congress leader's retort came after BJP questioned why Rahul Gandhi was not initiating the debate.

Home Minister Amit Shah took strong objection to Gogoi's statement and said that it is a grave accusation. He said the Opposition cannot engage in such mudslinging.

The no-confidence motion debate against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government is underway in the Lok Sabha. In the backdrop of the crucial parliamentary deliberation is the ethnic violence in Manipur.

The motion was introduced by the Congress to elicit a response from Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Parliament on the situation in Lok Sabha.

The Modi government is now in its second term, with opposition parties forming the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) to prevent the ruling BJP-led NDA from coming to power for a third term under him.
