Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar has appealed for peace and calm after violent clashes erupted in the state's Nuh district on July 31.

After reviewing the security situation in a meeting with Haryana home minister Anil Vij, Chief Secretary and DGP, Khattar said that peace has been restored in all the areas affected by the clashes but public gathering has been banned as a precautionary measure.

He added that 44 FIRs have been registered so far and 70 people have been taken into custody.
