Open threat against Dalits: two arrested after video of man threatening violence goes viral

An announcement ringing through the streets of Pavti, Muzaffarnagar sent shock waves among the residents of the village. 

A man playing the 'dhol' announced that if any Dalit is seen on the border of Rajbir Pradhan's farm or tubewell, they will be punished with a fine of Rs 5,000 and 50 shoe slaps. The man, identified as Kunwar Pal, can be seen making the announcement and beating the drum in a video that has been widely shared. 

Rajbir Pradhan is the father of Vicky Tyagi, a gangster who was shot dead in 2015 inside court premises. 

After the video went viral, Pradhan and Pal, were arrested.

SSP Muzaffarnagar Abhishek Yadav said that not only did he make objectionable casteist remarks, he also threatened violence against a particular community. A case has been registered under SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
