Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his last respects to Parkash Singh Badal, a day after the former Punjab Chief Minister passed away.

PM Modi on April 26, 2023 visited the Shiromani Akali Dal's party office in Chandigarh where Badal's remains were kept for mourners to pay homage.

Earlier, Modi had said that Badal's death was a "personal loss" to him. He remembered the Akali Dal patriarch as a "remarkable statesman" who "anchored" Punjab through "critical times".

95-year-old Badal breathed his last at a hospital in Mohali at around 8 pm on April 25.
