In a reply to RTIs, the State Bank of India has said that the Union government recently printed 10k electoral bonds worth 1 crore each.
It stated that 10,000 electoral bonds were printed between August 1 and October 29. The installments of electoral bonds for Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat elections were sold between October 1 and October 10.
The bank responded to two RTIs by one Kanhaiya Kumar wherein it also revealed that the government had last printed electoral bonds in 2019. At that time, bonds worth Rs 11,400 crore were printed at the India Security Press in Nashik.
Over the years, electoral bonds of Rs 1 crore have been the most popular. According to SBI's reply, about 94 per cent of the total electoral bond value sold so far has been in the form of bonds worth Rs 1 crore. Electoral bonds of denominations of Rs 1,000, Rs 10,000, Rs 1 lakh and Rs 10 lakh are also included.
