Former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia will contest the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections from Jangpura, while civil services teacher Avadh Ojha has been fielded from Patparganj, replacing Sisodia. AAP announced its second list of 20 candidates for the polls scheduled early next year, following the release of 11 names last month.
Jangpura, an AAP stronghold since 2013, has been reassigned to Sisodia, who previously represented Patparganj. Sisodia, currently out on bail in a money laundering case linked to the now-defunct liquor policy, expressed gratitude to AAP leadership and pledged to replicate his education and development work in Jangpura. Patparganj has been handed over to Ojha, with Sisodia describing the constituency as the "heart of Delhi’s education revolution."
The list reflects AAP’s strategy of not repeating any sitting MLAs for these 20 seats, a move aimed at combating anti-incumbency. Meanwhile, BJP criticized the changes, suggesting AAP members are hesitant to contest due to public dissatisfaction. Notably, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and MLA Atishi’s names are yet to appear in AAP’s candidate lists.
