With the Income Tax Department conducting searches at UK broadcaster BBC's offices in Delhi and Mumbai, the Opposition party Congress criticised the Modi government.

Congress MP Jairam Ramesh linked the searches to the Adani-Hindenburg conspiracy. He said, "On the one hand, we're demanding a JPC (Joint Parliamentary Committee) probe in the Adani matter. On the other hand, the government is hounding BBC."

"'Vinaash kaale, vipreet buddhi' (when the time of destruction comes, one's mind starts making wrong decisions)," the Rajya Sabha member added.

The Opposition had also targeted the government for blocking BBC's recent documentary on Modi and the 2002 Gujarat riots.
