BJP MP calls for 'boycott' of a community after teenager's murder in Delhi: A Member of Parliament from the Bharatiya Janata Party sparked a controversy on 9 October 2022 with a speech made at a protest gathering in Delhi.

Parvesh Verma allegedly appealed to people to practice "total boycott" of a particular community. Verma was reportedly speaking at an event organised to protest the murder of teenager in northeast Delhi.

19-year-old Manish had been stabbed to death on 1 October 2022 in Sundar Nagri area of Delhi. Police had arrested 3 accused named Aalam, Bilal, and Faizan, and accused them of committing the murder over an old rivalry.

At the protest event on 9 October, BJP MP Parvesh Verma allegedly said, "Wherever you find them, there is only one way to straighten them - total boycott. Do you agree with me? We will not buy anything from their shops or pay them any wages. This is the only treatment for them."
