A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court for declaration of Delhi minister Satyendar Jain as a "person with unsound mind". The Delhi High Court had earlier dismissed the petition which also wanted Jain disqualified as an MLA and a minister.

The plea by Delhi resident Ashish Kumar Srivastava said that Satyendar Jain had declared before Enforcement Directorate officers that he lost his memory. The petitioner claimed that Jain told ED that due to severe Covid infection, he does not remember many things, like his signature.

The plea says that letting a person of unsound mind continue as MLA and minister is "cheating" Delhi's voters. Jain was arrested on 30 May 2022 by ED under money laundering charges, and is currently in judicial custody.
