Following a string of crimes which shocked the national capital, the Delhi Lieutenant Governor pointed out "glaring lacunae" to the police force. Addressing a DCP conference on 21 February, LG VK Saxena cited cases like the Kanjhawala hit-and-drag case in which a woman died after being dragged under a car for many kilometres, and the Shraddha Walkar murder in which she was allegedly killed, chopped up into pieces and stored in a refrigerator by her live-in partner.LG Saxena asked police to "ensure proactive pre-emptive measures to ensure safety and security at all levels" ahead of the upcoming G20 summit.
