Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shina was named the Shiv Sena chief at the national executive meet of the party on February 21. It was the first meeting after the Election Commission recognised Shinde's faction as the real Shiv Sena.

The poll panel had last week alloted Shiv Sena's bow and arrow symbol to Shinde's faction drawing severe criticism from ex-Sena chief Thackeray and his supporters.

Earlier in the day, the Lok Sabha Secretariat alloted the Shiv Sena's office in the Parliament complex to Shinde's faction in a further setback to the Thackeray's.

The Supreme Court is set to hear Uddhav Thackeray's plea against the Election Commission order on Wednesday.
