Sonam Wangchuk, the engineer-turned-education reformer who inspired Aamir Khan's character in '3 Idiots', has said that the union territory of Ladakh was better off as a part of the former state of Jammu and Kashmir.

He made the remarks in an interview with NDTV.

Wangchuk on January 30 ended a 5-day fast demanding safeguards for the eco-fragile union territory. He has also been rallying for Ladakh's special status and statehood.
