Amid the continous outrage over parading incident in Manipur by a mob of Meitei men and more horror stories coming to light, Meiteis residing in Mizoram have started fleeing the state over security concerns.

Altough the Mizoram government on July 22 reassured the Meitei community living in the state of safety and told them not to pay heed to rumours.

The exodus was allegedly triggered after an 'advisory' by an ex-militant’s association of Mizoram PAMRA. The outfit had asked the people of Meitei community to leave due to tension triggered by the viral video of two women being paraded naked by a mob in Manipur.

Police said several Meitei people have left for their home states on Saturday amid mounting tension.

A few thousand Meiteis, mostly from Manipur and south Assam, live in Mizoram.
