Hours after Ajit Pawar switched sides and joined the BJP-Shiv Sena government in Maharashtra, the Sharad Pawar camp of the NCP jumped into action against the rebels.

NCP's Maharashtra unit chief Jayant Patil late on July 3 said that disqualification petitions against Ajit Pawar and 8 other MLAs had been sent to the Assembly Speaker.

Sharad Pawar's faction has also sent an e-mail to the Election Commission claiming that the rank and file of the NCP is with party chief Sharad Pawar.
