In an interesting development in Bihar politics, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar attended an iftaar party hosted by main Opposition party RJD. The iftaar party was held at the residence of former Bihar CM Rabri Devi, who is the wife of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav. Nitish attended the event at the invitation of Lalu's son Tejashwi, who is the Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly.
This comes amid growing differences between ruling allies JD(U) and BJP. Leaders of the two parties have been firing salvos at each other publicly in recent months. Despite the BJP having more seats in the Assembly than JD(U), the latter has the CM seat.
This has led to speculation in recent weeks that Nitish might move to Delhi and be made the Vice-President of India. However, some voices in the BJP have tried to assert that Nitish will complete his term till 2025.
The RJD also dealt a blow to the ruling alliance in the recent Bochahan Assembly bypolls. The JD(U)-BJP coalition also lost 10 seats in the recent MLC elections.
