BJP politician Smriti Irani spoke about the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and the unrest in Kashmir when Congress was in power in a bid to slam Rahul Gandhi.

Irani recounted the horrors of the Emergency to attack the Congress, saying the party's history is smeared in blood.

The no-confidence motion debate against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government is under way in the Lok Sabha. In the backdrop of the crucial parliamentary deliberation is the ethnic violence in Manipur.

The motion was introduced by the Congress to elicit a response from Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Parliment on the situation in Lok Sabha.

The Modi government is now in its second term, with opposition parties forming the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) to prevent the ruling BJP-led NDA from coming to power for a third term under him.
