The Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister has distanced itself from its own chairman, Bibek Debroy after he recently wrote an article on the Indian Constitution.

Debroy on August 15 had written in the Mint newspaper that India should have a new Constitution since the current one is a colonial legacy.

Two days later, the EAC-PM said that Debroy had written the article in his personal capacity, and it was not the Council's view.

Debroy corroborated the same to news agency ANI.
